![]() JOHN CROMWELL Managing Director PHONE: +1 650 322 2378 John Cromwell has been actively involved with helping the growth of some of the most recognizable technology companies early in their development in a career that spans nearly thirty years. They have been transactions that span all sizes, from billion dollar divestitures or financings to ten million dollar raises or acquisitions. While successfully completing a transaction is rewarding, what truly excites him is in seeing the technology and innovation that underlies each of the companies he becomes involved with realized and commercialized. Most recently Mr. Cromwell managed the Software and IT Services practice area at SVB Alliant (formerly known as Alliant Partners), which he joined as its first outside partner. This area encompassed a broad range of software and Internet technologies. The practice area addressed transactions on a global basis, with completed deals ranging from Belgium to Australia and throughout the United States. In this capacity, he also took on responsibility for a number of venture capital relationships that relied on Alliant for transaction expertise. In 2001, Mr. Cromwell, along with his fellow partners at Alliant, sold the firm to Silicon Valley Bank. Mr. Cromwell continued with SVB Alliant until he formed GrowthPoint Technology Partners. In the span of his career, Mr. Cromwell has completed dozens of transactions in the software sector, ranging from enterprise application software, to infrastructure and security software, as well as Internet technologies. Noteworthy companies that he has worked with include IBM, Apple, Dell, Macrovision, Fair Isaac, Cisco, Siebel Systems, E*TRADE, Yahoo, Veritas and EMC among others. Prior to Alliant, Mr. Cromwell was Managing Director of Bank of America's high-technology group. He was responsible for directing the bank's global high tech practice. Prior to BofA, Mr. Cromwell held various management responsibilities at Security Pacific Merchant Bank and Union Bank of California. Mr. Cromwell received a BSC degree from Santa Clara University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. He was instrumental in helping launch the opening of the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose and sits on the Development Counsel of the Haas School of Business. |
